Edgy Statements founder Enise Avci was born an raised in Ghent. She learned to make her own jewelry as a child and wore every piece because she loved to express herself through her craft. While studying style and design, she got the comment that she always looked sharp, edgy yet elegant by one of her teachers. Her personal dedication to raw materials and creating new and exciting jewelry brought Edgy Statements to life.
For Enise, creating jewelry is an intimate process. Before deciding on what materials will be used, she thinks about how a design will be worn and where it will be used. Once she’s ready to start working on a piece, she treats the materials and begins an hour -if not daily- long process. Completely opposed to an industrial approach, she guides and gives birth to a new piece.
International Chic with an Edgy Touch.
After a couple of years of practice, Enise found that working gently, taking her time and enjoying what she was doing is the best way to yield the most elegant results. Even when she started small, she always matched her meticulousness with curiosity. Since then she has studied various techniques and designs that have helped her cultivate a peculiar yet international style.
Enise works alone, and with music on the background. She spends most of her time crafting in her appartment in Ghent, though she also uses some rather intrigueing techniques which involve a furnace and rough materials. These are mostly done in a warehouse which has the necessary tools. She still makes time to learn new techniques and exhibits her pieces from time to time.
